Total Triage System

Since Wednesday 10 January 2024, we are operating a total triage system, where every request for a GP appointment is triaged by our GP team. To request a doctors appointment we are asking all our patients to use an online form where possible. If you find it difficult to use a computer or a smartphone, you can telephone our reception on 020 8669 6186 or attend in person and our receptionists will fill out the form on your behalf. Our reception staff are not able to book an appointment with a GP directly.

Important Update: Merger of GP Surgeries

We want to inform you that from Monday 1st July 2024, Wallington Family Practice will be merging with Carshalton Fields.

This is due to the owners of the building on Crichton Road (the current location of Carshalton Fields) serving notice, which means the GP surgery needs to move. This merger request has now been approved by NHS South West London.

While change can sometimes bring uncertainty, we want to reassure you that our primary focus remains on providing uninterrupted care and support to you and your loved ones throughout the transition period and beyond.

What this means for you if you are a current patient at Wallington Family Practice:

  1. There will be no change to your registration at the practice. You will still be able to book appointments, visit the practice at Jubilee Health Centre, and receive the care and support you need. You may notice the practice is a little busier, but we want to reassure you we are doing everything we can to ensure you continue to receive the same level of care.
  2. Increased Staff: As a result of the merger, there will be more staff available to assist you. This will enable us to enhance our services and provide additional support to meet the needs of our growing patient community.
  3. Transition Period: Please bear with us during the transition phase. While we strive to make this process as smooth as possible, there may be temporary adjustments to appointment scheduling or administrative procedures. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated during this time.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why are the practices merging and the Carshalton Fields Surgery premises closing?

The property on Crichton Road is owned by Drs Raj and Kusum Goel, who were previously partners at the Carshalton Fields Surgery. The lease on the property has expired and the owners have chosen to evict the practice. Carshalton Fields have no legal powers to oppose this. This has been a very difficult situation, and we are committed to ensuring that patients registered at the surgery, continue to receive the services they need. After considering the options available, the merger provides the best solution and minimal impact for both patients and staff. The staff at both practices are very enthusiastic about the decision to work together and combine services. They are keen to further improve access, experience, and the available services for their patients.

What will the merger of the two practices and the closure of Carshalton Fields Surgery involve, and how would this affect me?

Registered patient do not need to take any action and the change will not affect your registration. For those patients registered with Carshalton Fields Surgery the patient records will transfer over to the Wallington Family Practice once the contracts have merged.

Will my GP remain the same?

There will be no change to the clinical and administration staff.

You can register with any practice which is accepting patients if you live within its catchment area. You can find details of the surgeries closest to by using the NHS Find a GP Tool. However, if you need assistance in registering elsewhere, please contact the staff at Wallington Family Practice.

Will opening hours and services remain the same wherever I register?

All Sutton GP practices are open from 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, with some open longer. Extended access arrangements also mean all patients registered with a Sutton practice have access to GP appointments seven days a week, from 8am to 8pm.
